Dog Licensing

When do I need to license my dog?

Dog licenses are required for all dogs who are six months and older. A rabies certificate and proof of spaying or neutering (if applicable) must be presented when applying for this license.

The cost is $6.00 for a dog that has been spayed or neutered, and $11.00 for a dog that has NOT been spayed or neutered.

All dog licenses expire December 31 of each year. You may renew your dog license anytime between October 15 and January 31st. You must renew your dog license no later than January 31st of each year, or a $25 late fee will be charged. The Town Clerk is not authorized to waive the late fee, as it is a State imposed fee.

LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC and RABIES are often held the beginning of each month at Country Mutt located at 396 Main Street by Stephanie Heikkinen of Maine Woods Mobile Vet.  Appointments are required.  Female Dogs can not be spayed at these clinics.  Please call 491-1614 for more information.  This is not a town sponsored event.
